Early life

A Dallas native, Tracy Curry moved to Los Angeles and became a key ghostwriter for N.W.A and Eazy-E before his solo debut.

Career

His acclaimed 1989 album "No One Can Do It Better" was cut short by a car accident that damaged his voice, but he continued writing for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Major achievements

He co-wrote landmark records of the N.W.A and Death Row eras as one of the West Coast's premier pens.

Legacy

The D.O.C. was a foundational, behind-the-scenes architect of West Coast hip-hop's greatest era.
