Early life
Born Gloria Hallelujah Woods and raised in the Frayser area of Memphis, Tennessee, GloRilla grew up the seventh of ten children in a deeply religious household, singing in her church choir before turning to rap. She honed a raspy, high-energy delivery rooted in the raw crunk tradition of her hometown, releasing local singles for years before her breakthrough.
Career
Her 2022 single "F.N.F. (Let's Go)," produced by Hitkidd, became a viral anthem of female empowerment and earned a Grammy nomination. Signed to Yo Gotti's CMG label in partnership with Interscope, she followed with the platinum "Tomorrow 2" alongside Cardi B, the EP "Anyways, Life's Great...," and the acclaimed 2024 debut album "Glorious," which spawned the hit "Yeah Glo!"
Major achievements
She earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance with her very first single, scored multiple platinum records, and won BET and BET Hip Hop Awards. Her debut album "Glorious" debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200, a rare feat for a Memphis newcomer.
Legacy
GloRilla revived the rowdy, communal energy of Memphis crunk for a new generation, becoming one of the most prominent women in Southern rap and an emblem of the city's enduring influence on hip-hop.
