City Girls

Formed in Miami by the duo of Yung Miami (Caresha Brownlee) and JT (Jatavia Johnson), City Girls rose from the local scene with brash, unapologetic anthems celebrating female confidence and independence, channeling the city's long tradition of bass-heavy, hard-talking rap.

A breakout uncredited feature on Drake's 2018 chart-topper "In My Feelings" thrust them into the spotlight — even as JT served a prison term — and they released the projects "Girl Code," "City on Lock," and "RAW," scoring hits like "Act Up" and "Twerk."

They earned platinum singles, a Drake co-sign that introduced them to a global audience, and helped extend Miami's tradition of bold, sex-positive female rap into the streaming era.

City Girls carried Miami's lineage of fearless women in rap forward, becoming emblems of unfiltered female empowerment in modern hip-hop.
