Early life
Born in Tannersville near Marion in 1971, the diminutive left-hander taught himself to throw hard at tiny Ferrum College.
Career
One of the most dominant closers of his era, he saved games for the Astros, Phillies, Mets and Braves with a blazing fastball.
Major achievements
A seven-time All-Star with 422 career saves, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2025.
Legacy
Wagner is remembered as one of the greatest left-handed relievers in baseball history.
