Early life

Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, Onika Maraj moved to the Queens borough of New York as a child and attended the performing-arts school Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School.

Career

After a series of mixtapes, she signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money and broke through with "Pink Friday" in 2010, pairing acrobatic rap verses with pop hooks and a cast of alter egos across hits like "Super Bass" and "Anaconda."
