Early life

Born in Hempstead and raised between Long Island and Staten Island, Clifford Smith became one of the breakout voices of the Wu-Tang Clan, the only member with a solo track on the group's 1993 debut.

Career

His Grammy-winning 1994 album "Tical" launched a major solo career, and his platinum duo work with Redman — plus the hit "All I Need" with Mary J. Blige — made him a crossover star and budding actor.

Major achievements

He won a Grammy for "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" and built a successful film and television career, including the series "Power Book II: Ghost."
